Ian Leigh

Director

After finishing his education, Ian spent eight years in the Royal Marines. On leaving the service, he started work on a local building site, where he gained valuable experience in the construction industry. In 1998 he took the plunge and founded Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering Ltd. After just six months he appointed his first Quantity Surveyor to help grow the business and hasn’t looked back. Ian is now Director at both Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering ltd and Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd.

Andy Leigh

Director

Andy Leigh is the other half of the partnership. Andy began his career in America teaching sailing. On his return he worked in various industries gaining valuable work and industrial experience. In 1993 he took up a job on a building site before starting the family business with his brother Ian. As working directors, both Ian and Andy spend a lot of time on site overseeing the projects on a day to day basis. Andy is Director at both Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering ltd and Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd.

Debbie Leigh

Business Manager

Debbie is married to Ian Leigh and has been involved with the Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering Ltd since day one. Debbie is responsible for the ongoing development of both Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering ltd and Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd.

Lisa Leigh

Accounts Manager

Lisa is married to Andy Leigh and has been with Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering Ltd since 2004. Lisa’s role is to handle all HR matters, staff welfare, payroll and accounts for both Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering ltd and Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd.

Keith Rea

Training Manager

Keith has been with Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering Ltd since 2014 and joined to set up and drive forward the newly formed Training Department. Keith worked in the Construction and Civil Engineering Industry for around 25 years before starting a career in 2006 delivering Construction training/qualifications. Keith has moved to Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd to manage the business alongside Karen Cushion. Keith is responsible for delivering and coordinating training and assessment activities, coordinating training, finance and business development.

Karen Cushion

Training Manager

Since joining the Construction Training Industry in 2003 Karen has developed a wealth of knowledge of compliance matters such as CPCS/CSCS, training solutions, funding and grants, business and marketing. Karen joined the Matthews and Leigh Civil Engineering Ltd in 2015 to help develop the Training Department and moved to Matthews and Leigh Training Ltd to manage the business alongside Keith Rea. Karen is responsible for accreditation, compliance and quality, course administration, coordinating training, finance and business development.

Ryan Cook

Centre Administration

Ryan joined the team in June 2017 and has taken on a new role at the Training Centre. He has joined the company on an Apprenticeship Programme as a Business and Administration Apprentice, attending college weekly to gain his formal Business Administration qualification over 2 years.  

Ryan completed the Apprenticeship in October 2018 and now helps Karen and Keith run training centre Administration.
