This course covers the practical instruction on how to use CAT & Genny equipment to locate buried cables and underground utilities.

This course covers the standard use of Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and the Signal Generator (Genny) to meet the Health and Safety guideline to avoid dangers underground.

  • Identifying underground services
  • Regulations of detecting and tracing underground services
  • How and why locators are used
  • Limitations of using the CAT and Genny tools
  • The hazards of using the CAT and Genny tools and how they can be avoided
  • Calibration, inspecting and testing equipment
  • Learning the safe use of pipe and cable equipment

Duration – 1 day.

Location – The training centre based in Coppull (PR7 4ND).

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate from a recognised awarding organisation: SQA awards.
